1. Joi T. Arcand, an artist known for creating site-specific neon signage in Cree syllabics, has been shortlisted for the 2018 Sobey Art Award and will be featured in a group exhibition this fall at Ottawa’s National Gallery of Canada.

2. Canadian out-of-home (OOH) advertising firm Astral has named the winners of its ninth annual Carte Blanche for Creatives competition, which encouraged agency teams to create original digital OOH (DOOH) concepts for their clients.

3. CJ Graphics in Mississauga, Ont., has won an Excellence in Print Award in the digital and large- to grand-format categories from the Ontario Printing & Imaging Association (OPIA) for producing the ‘world’s biggest paint swatch’ for Canadian Tire.

4. Two students at Ryerson University’s School of Graphic Communications Management (GCM) in Toronto are among the recipients of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA’s) 2018 scholarship program.

5. The digital wide-format graphics industry is optimistic about further growth, particularly in areas like interior decor, according to the latest Federation of European Screen Printers Associations (FESPA) global print census.
