Here’s your quick morning update on news in the sign industry:
1. The Digital Signage Federation (DSF) announced it will host a ‘meet and greet’ evening mixer on July 26 at the newly opened Rec Room at downtown Toronto’s Roundhouse, right across from the CN Tower and Ripley’s Aquarium.
2. Winnipeg-based Electra Sign is the only Canadian winner in Watchfire Signs’ 2017 LED Sign Awards program, honoured for the pylon sign it built for South Beach Casino & Resort on the Brokenheart Ojibway Nation Reserve.
3. The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) recently unveiled signage for a new service building located on the Canadian plaza at the international bridge that connects the twin cities of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
4. The global outdoor advertising market reached a value of around US$37.7 billion in 2016, according to Research and Markets, having experienced a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 5.4 per cent since 2009.
5. Toronto-based UrbanArts, which creates public murals as a way to contribute to community development, is modernizing its process with wide-format digital printing, so as to better prepare young participants for jobs in the sign and graphics industry.
