As part of a corporate rebranding project, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has introduced a stand-alone information kiosk centre at Pearson International Airport, designed by ZAS Architects and engineered, fabricated and installed by Eventscape.

The 83.6-m2 (900-sf) structure, housed in the airport’s main terminal building, includes aluminum display boards, a free-standing canopy supported by angled columns, new GTAA brand images, an acrylic brochure stand and an information desk.

One of the most challenging parts of the project was assembling a rear overhead screenprinted acrylic sign with interior light-emitting diodes (LEDs), which was intended to appear as a solid block. To accomplish this esthetic goal, Eventscape used seamless edge joins when gluing the pre-printed acrylic pieces together.

Similarly, the canopy is made up of nine different sections of tubing, which were shipped separately and then assembled on-site with custom interior bolt connections, to avoid visible fasteners.
