Toronto’s beloved Honest Ed’s sign is lighting up again

Toronto is getting a little bit of Honest Ed’s magic back.
Nearly 10 years after the legendary discount store closed its doors on New Year’s Eve 2016, the iconic Honest Ed’s Alley sign is returning at the redeveloped Mirvish Village, at Bloor and Bathurst in downtown Toronto.
The glowing sign will anchor a new micro-retail space designed to give small businesses and creative entrepreneurs a chance to set up shop without hefty deposits or long-term leases.
Inspired by the colourful alleyways of Tokyo, the space will also feature neon lighting, lanterns, street vendors, and independent retailers — bringing some buzz back to the historic corner. There will be other retail and residential developments as well, as Mirvish Village nears completion.
Honest Ed’s may be gone, but its famous lights are shining again.
