Here’s your quick morning update on news in the sign industry:
1. Several Canadian projects and professionals topped the list of winners for the 2018 Digital Signage Awards, which were announced earlier this month during the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) audiovisual (AV) industry show in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
2. The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce’s (CIBC’s) graphic-wrapped ski-thru automated teller machine (ATM) has returned to British Columbia’s Whistler Blackcomb resort with an added feature: a 0.9-m (3-ft) tall animatronic penguin.
3. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RMCP) are investigating the theft of an old neon sign from Stevens Lumber, a family business in Fannystelle, Man. The sign dates back to the 1950s.
4. Groupe Lettra in Boisbriand, Que., has installed an Anapurna M3200i roll-to-roll (RTR) ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) inkjet printer from Agfa Graphics so it can offer one-stop shopping for large-format graphics.
5. 3M has launched a North American road show to demonstrate a variety of road infrastructure and transportation safety innovations, such as reflective signage and wet-reflective pavement markings. The tour will reach nearly 50 cities, including several in Canada.
