5 things to know
Here’s your quick morning update on news in the sign industry:
1. Automaker Kia Canada’s ‘red cube,’ a 9.1 x 9.1 -m (30 x 30-ft) pop-up promotional installation featuring four 3-m (10-ft) light-emitting diode (LED) screens, recently wrapped up a cross-country tour in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square.
2. Avery Dennison recently named Connor William Barr of Victoria-based Coastal Car Wraps the 2016 regional wrap king for Canada. His wrap, ‘M Sport Camo,’ is now competing for the world title at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nev.
3. Environmental graphic design (EGD) firm Entro has developed and implemented an integrated wayfinding sign system for the Union-Pearson (UP) Express service, a rail link between downtown Toronto’s Union Station and Pearson International Airport.
4. A computer numerical control (CNC) router is one of the most expensive investments a sign shop can make. A thorough process of due diligence is essential before purchasing, as a number of issues could otherwise result in unnecessary costs and a loss of time and materials.
5. Toronto-based Kramer Design Associates (KDA) recently designed a distinctive brand mark, digital signage and wayfinding program for the expansion and revitalization of the city’s Yonge Eglinton Centre (YEC).
