Interactive transit shelters planned for Laval
Under a new 20-year partnership starting this month, telecommunications provider Quebecor’s out-of-home (OOH) advertising division will manage a growing transit shelter network in Laval, Que., on behalf of the Société de Transport de Laval (STL).
STL plans to increase its current inventory of 101 bus shelters to nearly 300. As part of this expansion, Quebecor will install five new shelters equipped with 2.1-m (84-in.) screens and gesture-recognition systems. In addition to digital OOH (DOOH) advertising, these interactive shelters will allow waiting passengers to view bus maps and schedules. The same technology has been used in Montreal since last year.
“Partnering with Quebecor will enable us to expand our network of bus shelters and boost revenues,” says David de Cotis, STL’s chair (pictured, left).
“From small, local businesses to large, national firms, it’s a great advertising platform that gets them close to consumers,” says Claude Foisy, vice-president (VP) of Quebecor Media Out of Home (pictured, right).
