Media Resources International (MRI), headquartered in Oakville, Ont., has installed a 300-series computer numerical control (CNC) router from MultiCam Canada.

Formerly known as Grant Sign Service, MRI has become one of the largest sign companies in North America, with more than 150 employees and additional offices in Richmond, B.C., Edmonton, Calgary, Rumson, N.J., Fenton, Mo., and Key Biscayne, Fla. Its work has included large-format digital printing, paper and flex-face banners, custom billboards, three-message displays, scoreboards, point-of-purchase (POP) displays and light-emitting diode (LED) panels, along with sign installation and maintenance.

While MRI had used other routing systems in the past, president and co-owner Keith Edwards says he saw the need for a higher-quality platform to augment the company’s production department. The new 2 x 3.7-m (80 x 144-in.) MultiCam router, featuring a rigid all-steel gantry and frame and an active dust collector, is suitable for routing channel letters, dimensional signage and wide-format graphics. It can reportedly reach traverse speeds up to 63.5 m (2,500 in.) per minute.
