The Town of Minto, Ont. desires to install two more murals in town to invest more on its downtown cores.
According to a news report from thestar.com, the Town of Minto installed four murals in downtown Harriston in 2020 as part of mural mania and the rural economic development funding.
Since the project was received, the Harriston rising committee and all aboard Palmerston committee requested artist Blaze Wiradharma to return to Minto to paint murals in each of their communities.
In addition to the four murals, the municipality will be installing two more: one mural will be placed on Gramma Jo’s Restaurant in Clifford, the second will be placed on the Palmerston Pool, a town-owned building.
The Clifford mural will be 4.88 m (16 ft) long and 2.44 m (8 ft) high, which will come to a total fee of $3000. Meanwhile, the Palmerston mural is 6 m (20 ft) long and 2.44 m high with the total fee coming to $3500.
The cost of the murals falls within the 2022 budget allocated for streetscapes under the economic development department for capital projects.
