Cirque du Soleil (French for ‘Circus of the Sun’ or ‘Sun Circus’), a Montreal-based entertainment company and a contemporary circus producer, has captured imaginations worldwide with its magnificent theatrical performances.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of its biggest shows, Alegria, the company decided to use light-emitting diode (LED) sources as a corporate social responsibility initiative to reduce its environmental footprint. Their selection of lighting fixtures resulted in an almost entirely LED-based design, allowing for both energy savings and expanded creative options.
Two 584- x 1981-mm (23- x 78-in.) LED towers with a pixel pitch of 2.5 mm (0.09-in.) were installed in the VIP tent in Montreal’s Old Port. iGotcha Media’s in-house studio designed innovative digital content that blended seamlessly with the tent’s décor, adding another dimension to an otherwise static environment. The design team created individual video loops for five different zones, ensuring each screen communicated the appropriate information to its own zone. The faces on the screens moved within the frames, creating an eye-catching, dynamic digital experience for the guests who could view the entire
show from the front of house.
The content was scheduled and modified according to the time of the day, the show’s narrative, and the public’s experience before the show, during the intermission, and after the event.
The content was deployed remotely through iGotcha’s customized content management system, iGotcha Signage. The displays attracted and engaged guests as they waited to receive their drinks and offered brand continuity.
