1. Sign Media Canada has launched its ninth annual survey of the signmaking industry all across the country and welcomes your input by Monday, September 7.

2. Michael Robertson, president of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), has announced he will retire in 2016, following 33 years of service to the organization, including nearly 15 years leading it.

3. Several customers of software developer Omnivex, based in Concord, Ont., have won ICX Association Excellence Awards for their digital signage deployments, including the Jays Shop and the University of Toronto (U of T).

4. An illuminated public sculpture spelling out ‘Toronto’ at the city’s Nathan Phillips Square, which has proven popular during the Pan Am Games, will remain in place for the rest of the year and may travel to different locations in 2016.

5. As the costs of digital signage continue to decrease each year, expanded deployment is becoming more feasible in many industry sectors, according to market research firm IHS Technology, enabling the medium to reach larger audiences.
