Here’s your quick morning update on news in the sign industry:
1. The finalists for the upcoming 2017 Digital Signage Expo’s (DSE’s) Apex Installation Awards have been announced, including six Canadian contenders, as chosen by an independent panel of industry experts.
2. A recent study suggests Canadian consumers’ attention to and recall of out-of-home (OOH) advertising remain stable while they avoid online ads and spend less time with traditional media like TV and newspapers, according to the OOH Marketing Association of Canada (OMAC).
3. LG’s latest organic light-emitting diode (OLED) video wall, recently installed in the rotunda of Scotiabank’s new Digital Factory in downtown Toronto, is reportedly the first of its kind anywhere in Canada.
4. The Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montreal (MAC) will celebrate the late Leonard Cohen later this year by projecting phrases from his poems, songs and other writings on Silo No. 5, a heritage property along the Pointe-du-Moulin in the city’s Old Port.
5. Canada’s Cineplex Digital Media (CDM) has been honoured with three awards for some of its digital signage projects from 2016, courtesy of the Summit International Awards (SIA) for marketing communications.
