Here’s your weekly roundup of news from the sign industry:
1. The Flight Gallery at Halifax’s Discovery Centre and Montreal’s Escales Découvertes (Discovery Halts) are the only Canadian projects among the winners of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design’s (SEGD’s) 2018 Global Design Awards.
2. Mexican beer brand Corona ‘hijacked’ its own out-of-home (OOH) ads around the globe earlier this month to tie in with Oceans Week and help raise awareness of the significant negative impact of marine plastic pollution.
3. Siggraph, an annual educational event showcasing computer graphics and interactive applications, is coming to Vancouver this summer with juried selections of emerging technologies, including some with implications for digital signage.
4. The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) has awarded its colour management certification to two Canadian print service providers (PSPs): Holland & Crosby of Mississauga, Ont., and Studio Graphics of Montreal.
5. Toronto-based Cineplex Digital Media (CDM) has won two 2018 Elevate Awards from the Interactive Customer Experience (ICX) Association for digital signage content it developed for two Canadian banks.
