The seventh annual Toronto Urban Film Festival (TUFF) has played out on Pattison Onestop’s Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway-platform screens, showcasing one-minute silent movies to more than one million daily commuters.

Running from September 6 to 16 to coincide with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the 2013 edition of TUFF screened 82 silent movies from 20 countries, interspersing them every 10 minutes on all 290 screens in the TTC’s digital signage network. Commuters also had the chance to view the films uninterrupted at designated ‘film zone’ screens in Bloor, Dundas and St. Andrew subway stations.

New this year was ‘TUFF Above Ground,’ which showcased media artist David Clark’s Subdivision, a series of eight-second videos, on a Pattison Outdoor digital billboard at the corner of Yonge and Edward Streets (pictured below).
