- HP’s Designjet and Scitex printers that use durable aqueous ‘latex’ inks (pictured) have been rebranded as the HP Latex line.
- Toronto-based pressure-sensitive adhesive manufacturer Multi-Tac has been acquired by adhesive-coated product and finishing equipment manufacturer Drytac in nearby Thornhill, Ont. Drytac also sold its ultraviolet (UV) liquid coating division to Advanced Finishing Technologies (AFT).
- Digital billboard manufacturer Daktronics announced its intention to join World Sign Associates (WSA), a trade organization, as an associate product member (APM) and to purchase Open Out-of-Home Solutions, which provides lightboxes, signs and displays to third-party advertisers.
- Digital signage operator iSign Media Solutions, based in Richmond Hill, Ont., granted exclusive advertising rights for its network in Mac’s Convenience Stores across Canada to Montreal-based iTrix Media.
- Spartanics, which manufactures laser cutting systems, has acquired Vancouver-based Malahide Hot Stamping Presses.
- Toronto-based Cineplex, a national movie theatre operator with a digital signage division, offered to acquire EK3 Technologies in London, Ont., which designs, installs and manages digital signage networks for such major clients as Tim Hortons, McDonald’s, Walmart and Target.
- Wide- and grand-format printer manufacturer PrinterEvolution has joined the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI) as it expands its line of textile printers.
- Montreal-based digital signage provider Aurora Dynamic has been named the Eastern Canada agent for Belgium-based Barco LiveDots’ light-emitting diode (LED) screen portfolio, with coverage of Ontario, Quebec, New Brunwick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Toronto-based digital out-of-home (DOOH) network operator Adcentricity announced a strategic partnership with Impact Mobile, gaining access to mobile campaign services.
- Laser engraver and cutter vendor Trotec Canada, a division of Trodat Marking Canada in Mississauga, Ont., has acquired the business of Engraver’s Express in Mississauga and Langley, B.C., Grav-Tech Canada in Calgary and Stenlagraph in Saint-Laurent, Que.
- Toronto-based Tower Litho has joined the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA).
- Magnetic Media Holdings, the parent company of ‘glasses-free’ three-dimensional (3-D) digital signage developer Magnetic 3D, purchased 240,000 shares back from former shareholders Peter Zahakos and James Zahakos, representing 18 per cent of its outstanding equity.
- Glenn Pattison of 3M Canada in Milton, Ont., has joined the board of directors at the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada (PMTC), which runs a vehicle graphics design competition each year (see page 12).
- Under a new partnership, digital billboard manufacturer Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO) has selected the SmarterSign digital signage software platform.
