King of all media

anapurna2King Architectural Products, a division of WSI Sign Systems in Bolton, Ont., installed the first Agfa Graphics Anapurna M2050 ultraviolet-curing (UV-curing) inkjet printer in Canada.

Since opening in 1988, WSI has grown from a small sign shop to an architectural sign manufacturer, working with designers and architects in the environmental graphic design (EGD) field. The WSI and King divisions are now combined in one 4,181-m2 (45,000-sf) plant.

The Anapurna M2050 can reportedly print up to 53 m2 (570 sf) of output per hour in express mode. It can handle rigid substrates up to 45 mm (1.8 in.) thick and 2 m (81 in.) wide, along with rolls of vinyl, film, paper, canvas, banners and other flexible media.

The installation expands the digital imaging capabilities of the company’s diversified manufacturing facility, which also offers solvent inkjet printing, screenprinting, metal fabrication and welding, computer numerical control (CNC) routing, waterjet precision cutting, vinyl plotting, lamination, engraving, image setting, hot stamping, photopolymer processing and sign painting.
