Great Signs and Graphics, which produces displays and outdoor signage in Welland, Ont., has installed a Scitex FB500 industrial printer from HP Canada to improve productivity, expand digital printing capabilities and increase business.

The FB500 is not only shortening Great Signs’ project turnaround times, but also delivering a wider range of services to grow the business, such as printing on doors and ceiling tiles for the home décor market. Since the installation, the company has seen overall business increase by 20 per cent.

“We’re a small print shop, but we serve clients of all sizes, from small businesses to larger organizations,” says Dennis Rogers, owner and president, “so we needed a printing infrastructure that would give us the versatility to serve this diverse group. The FB500 is a multi-purpose machine that lets us meet the needs of more customers in niche industries we previously could not serve.”

Now that Great Signs can print graphics up to 1.6 m (64 in.) wide and 51 mm (2 in.) thick, on nearly any type of rigid or flexible media, the company can respond to client requests for oversized door graphics and other décor applications. It has even sold graphics to the wedding services market.
