The Digital Place-based Advertising Association (DPAA) has hired Barry Frey as president and CEO. He succeeds Susan Danaher, who recently resigned from the trade organization to join Adspace Digital Mall Network as executive vice-president (EVP) and chief revenue officer.

Frey has worked with clients in digital, interactive, TV and cross-media advertising. His experience includes positions with the Sonenshine Partners investment bank, Cablevision, USA Networks and the National Basketball Association (NBA).

“Barry is a very strong media and marketing executive,” says Mike DiFranza, chair of DPAA and president of Capitvate Network, which operates digital signage in office tower elevators. “His expertise in addressing clients and agencies is exactly what this industry needs right now to garner its rightful share of advertising budgets.”

“I see place-based digital screen networks as a powerful way for advertisers to engage today’s on-the-go consumers,” says Frey. “The industry has a great infrastructure in place. We can provide analytics to advertisers, who recognize consumers are regularly watching video, on their way to making purchasing decisions.”
