Advanced, an audiovisual (AV) integrator based in Mississauga, Ont., recently installed a large video wall at a newly renovated flagship Crabby Joe’s Tap & Grill in London, Ont., to display multiple sporting events at the same time.

The restaurant’s franchisee, Howard Pennell, asked Advanced to design the biggest video wall that would fit in the venue, but make it simple to control the various display zones.

“At our initial meeting, he told us he wanted something that would blow his guests away as soon as they walked through the door,” says Omar Prashad, Advanced’s general manager (GM) of systems integration. “We determined the best solution was a 3 x 3-screen video wall that would allow them to show a single feed or six at once. There was enough room for a 4.2-m (165-in.) wall, composed of nine 1.4-m (55-in.) panels.”

“London has the highest concentration of restaurants in Ontario, so we’re always looking for anything we can provide that guests can’t get elsewhere,” Pennell explains. “We could have hung a bunch of TVs on the wall, but this system has as much value as a marketing tool as a video display. People see it when they walk by our window, then bring their friends, as this is the best place in town to catch their favourite sports.”
