Cineplex completes acquisition of EK3

Tim Horton'sCanadian movie theatre operator Cineplex has completed its acquisition of EK3 Technologies in London, Ont., which consults on, designs, installs and manages some of the largest digital signage networks in North America.

EK3 serves such clients as Tim Hortons (pictured), McDonald’s, RBC Financial Group, Walmart, Target and BMO Financial Group. It will be renamed to operate as Cineplex Digital Networks, with Nick Prigioniero continuing to lead the business as president.

Cineplex’s in-house digital signage business, Cineplex Digital Media, operates networks in the company’s own cinemas, as well as for outside clients like Scotiabank, CIBC, SunTrust, Oxford Properties, Rogers, OnRoute and Brookfield Properties.
