Canadian Tire rolls out interactive kiosk

A new digital kiosk at a Canadian Tire store in Mississauga, Ont., is helping customers search for and locate products, browse flyers, scan Quick Response (QR) codes and have instant promotions sent to their smart phones.

Installed near the store’s main entrance, the kiosk—developed by Toronto-based Jibestream Interactive Media, using its Novomap software platform—features a 1-m (42-in.) touch screen that displays video ads, a full store map and directory. The ads are selected in real time based on search analytics.

“It’s time to make finding products in a large retail store a little easier,” says Chris Wiegand, Jibestream’s chief operating officer (COO). “Customers are naturally drawn to an interactive kiosk that helps them sort through a wide range of products. It really matters in terms of the shopper experience.”

During a Canada Day promotion with Coleman, a vendor of camping gear and other outdoor products, a team of of ‘brand ambassadors’ was on hand from June 29 to July 3, to help introduce and explain the new system to customers.
