Boss of a new market

xpBoss Logo Print & Graphics in Markham, Ont., which serves the wholesale trade, has installed an Esko Kongsberg XP automated digital cutting table.

Established in 1995, Boss Logo prints graphics for advertising agencies, photographers, graphic designers and print brokers. Its capabilities for producing large runs are supported by complete in-house finishing, including die-cutting, lamination and coating.

As the company enters the sign, display and packaging markets, it has invested in new technologies.

“We wanted to jump completely into sign and display, not just make a little splash,” says Kapil Sunak, president. “We purchased a very large digital flatbed printer and now the cutting table to ensure we can finish jobs effectively. We are now equipped to efficiently take on prototypes to short runs to really large runs.”

The Kongsberg XP is designed to handle corrugated board and other materials used in point-of-purchase (POP) displays and product merchandising stands. Boss Logo has added the optional roll sheet feeder, which unwinds rolls on top of the table’s bed.

“We will cut everything we can on it, including wood, metal, plastic, corrugated and solid boards, folding cartons and corrugated plastic sheets,” says Sunak.
