Art posters celebrate Mandela’s 95th birthday
To honour South Africa’s anti-Apartheid revolutionary and former president Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday earlier this year, a series of 95 new art posters were produced using HP’s Designjet Z6200 wide-format photo printer.
HP served as the official print partner for the Mandela Poster Project, which began with a request for artists to submit their designs from around the world. More than 700 entries arrived from 70 countries.
Printville, a South African print service provider (PSP), produced the exhibition artwork on photo paper using pigment inks, which will reportedly resist fading for up to 200 years, under indoor gallery conditions.
“The Z6200 helped create stunning artwork, reproducing the colours precisely,” says Printville managing director Delarey Ferreira.
The Mandela Poster Project debuted at South Africa’s University of Pretoria and is expected to tour other countries, including the U.S., Mexico, Brazil and China.
