Graphics products from Avery Dennison have supported an award-winning architectural exhibit, Spontaneous Interventions: Design Actions for the Common Good, which will conclude its run in Chicago, Ill., on September 1.

Curated by Cathy Lang Ho on behalf of the non-profit Institute of Urban Design, the exhibit showcased architectural projects from more than 25 artists and organizations through an environmental graphic design (EGD) installation at the Chicago Cultural Center.

“Avery’s materials have been key to realizing this exhibit and we are grateful for their support,” says Ho.

Applied Image produced all of the graphics for the exhibit, using Avery’s opaque pewter and palm oyster films for oversized words along a hallway and MPI 2611 calendered vinyl film for informational wall graphics.

“The wall film provided the least labour-intensive, most affordable way to maintain consistency of colour and surface,” says Patricia McShane, designer and principal at M-A-D, the communications firm that designed the exhibit’s graphics. “We were especially pleased with Applied Image’s production of large blocks of custom-coloured text, with dramatic 1.8-m (6-ft) high die-cut words spanning the 37.8-m (124-ft) length of the gallery wall.”
