APG Media Group built one of the most technologically advanced live broadcast studio for election night using light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

Appointed by the CBC, APG used 284 hyper pixel light-emitting diode LED tiles with a 2.9-mm (0.1-in.) pixel pitch to design the studio’s 3.5-m (11.5-ft) wide by 1.9-m (6.5-ft) tall Election Results Wall. A 19.7-ft by 11.5-ft tall Remote Video Wall was also created with 16 ceiling flown LED towers that were 9.8-ft tall and had various widths, as well as a custom-made, arch-shaped LED floor comprising 66 additional LED panels with 4.76-mm (0.18-in.) pixel pitch for full high-definition (HD) resolution.

“In this situation, there’s only one chance to get it right,” said APG’s president and CEO, David Weatherhead. “Based on our company’s extensive product catalog, design experience, and technical knowledge, the CBC trusted us to specify the absolute best, most reliable technologies to deliver an election night broadcast unlike any other in Canada’s history. The immersive 360-degree studio offered endless opportunities to display and share information and graphics to grab the attention of viewers.”
