Montreal digital signage providers crowned at DSA Awards

Two digital signage companies in the Montreal area are among the winners of the Digital Screenmedia Association’s (DSA’s) 2013 Crown Awards, which recognize excellence in digital out-of-home (DOOH) content.
The awards were announced at a ceremony held at the Hard Rock Café Times Square in New York, N.Y., after the first day of the Customer Engagement Technology World (CETW) trade show and conference at Javits Convention Center. The ceremony was co-hosted by Linda Hofflander, director of vertical marketing for Samsung Electronics, and Keith Kelsen, author of Unleashing the Power of Digital Signage.
DSA recognized winners in ‘point-of-transit,’ ‘point-of-sale’ (POS) and ‘point-of-wait’ categories. Entries were judged on the following criteria:
- Did the content meet the project’s objectives?
- Was the content engaging?
- Did the content fit the environment?
- Was the content appropriate for the audience?
Groupe Viva, based in Boisbriand, Que., won a silver point-of-transit award for its Mont-Tremblant informational content (pictured, above), which was deployed when five existing kiosks at the ski resort were upgraded to interactive terminals with the addition of tactile screens.
Montreal-based Arsenal Media, meanwhile, received two gold POS awards honouring its work for two U.S. clients: New York’s Dee Daa Restaurant (pictured below at left) and Christie’s headquarters lobby in Cypress, Calif. (pictured below at right).
“This year showed corporate lobbies are a big trend, as we saw this category grow exponentially, with great content delivered,” said Kelsen.
There was also one Canadian digital signage industry professional on this year’s awards judging panel: Michael Chase, chief marketing officer (CMO) for Toronto-based St. Joseph Content.
