PRINTING United Alliance announces key leadership changes

PRINTING United Alliance, a member-based printing and graphic arts association in North America, announced key leadership updates aimed at supporting its long-term growth and service to the printing industry.

Chris Lyons has been named group president, overseeing sales across the Alliance’s media brands and events. Denise M Gustavson has been appointed vice-president of editorial and content strategy, expanding her role in editorial content and strategy across Alliance media outlets. Josh Carruth will take on expanded responsibilities as executive vice-president (EVP), Expositions, overseeing PRINTING United Expo operations alongside membership functions.

“These leadership advancements reflect the strength of our team and our commitment to promoting from within,” said Ford Bowers, CEO of PRINTING United Alliance. “We are confident in the experience, vision, and continuity Chris, Josh, and Denise bring, in addition to our more than 100 other professionals on staff, as we continue to serve our members and the industry.”

Chris Lyons: Group president

Lyons has held executive roles at Scholastic Children’s Books and Kodak, managing media and event brands and launching new initiatives.

“I’m honoured to step into this role and continue working closely with our partners to deliver even more meaningful value across our complete portfolio,” Lyons said.

Denise M Gustavson: Vice-president of editorial and content strategy

Gustavson has more than 28 years of experience in the printing industry and serves as an advisor for the Women in Print Alliance. She said her role focuses on ensuring the Alliance provides precise and relevant content across its channels. 

“The industry trusts us across all of those channels, and my job is to make sure we’re earning that trust on the content side—being precise about what we cover, who we serve, and why it matters.”

Josh Carruth: EVP, Expositions

Carruth has more than 20 years of experience in event strategy and media. Since joining the Alliance in 2021, he has helped expand engagement within the industry community. He now leads strategy and cross-functional teams for PRINTING United Expo.

He said, “PRINTING United Expo is the defining platform for the industry, and I’m proud to step into this expanded role at a time when the momentum behind this event continues to build, driven by years of execution, vision, and meaningful results,” said Josh Carruth, EVP, Expositions.

The Alliance is organizing PRINTING United Expo 2026 on September 23-25 in Las Vegas, Nev. Registration notifications will open in May.
