Academic conference to discuss signage as advertising

The correlation between illuminated signs and their businesses’ success and the role on-premise signage plays in corporate branding will be among the topics discussed at the fifth annual National Signage Research and Education Conference (NSREC) this fall.
Sponsored by the Signage Foundation in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati’s Colleges of Business and Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP), this year’s NSREC will be held on October 9 and 10 at the Kingsgate Marriott Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio, adjacent to the university campus.
Each year, NSREC (past edition pictured) presents academic research into areas of interest of the sign industry, its customers and municipal planners. The theme for the 2013 conference is ‘signage as advertising.’
Presentation topics will include ‘visual blight’ regulations, business makeovers, rebranding, urban wayfinding and out-of-home (OOH) advertising rates. More information is available at www.thesignagefoundation.org.
