- Telus Digital Signage won a 2013 Digital Screenmedia Association (DSA) Industry Excellence Award in the ‘screen media integration’ category for its SportChek retail lab project (pictured), which involved refurbishing a flagship Toronto store for FGL Sports with extensive digital signage technologies.
- Photopolymer manufacturer and distributor Nova Polymers has awarded ‘preferred fabricator’ status, with regard to its NovAcryl product line, to Marvel Sign & Display, a wayfinding sign system designer, fabricator and installer based in Vaughan, Ont.
- Computer numerical control (CNC) router vendor MultiCam Canada is celebrating 40 years in business. Mikon Engineering, originally formed as a tool and die distribution office, began distributing MultiCam products in 1994 and was rebranded in the early 2000s. Meanwhile, MultiCam announced the completion of its 10,000th machine.
- Inkjet printer/cutter vendor Roland DGA’s Eco-Sol Max 2 eco-solvent ink won the 2013 European Digital Press (EDP) award in the ‘best next-generation solvent ink technology’ category.
- The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) is celebrating its fifth anniversary. So far, it has certified more than 50 facilities in Canada and the U.S. for environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
- Montreal-based X2O Media’s Video Expert application won a Commercial Integrator Best Award in the digital signage software category. The interactive application enables real-time video conferencing through touch-screen displays.
- Wide-format printer/cutter manufacturer Mutoh America received a second U.S. patent for its SpectroVue VM-10 compact spectrophotometer, which attaches to most printheads in the company’s ValueJet eco-solvent machines to help automate printer calibration, process control and International Color Consortium (ICC) colour profile generation. Worldwide, this marks the fifth patent for the VM-10.
- StrandVision, which develops cloud-based digital signage delivery software, celebrated its 10th anniversary. Mike Strand founded the company in August 2003 as Online Kiosks before renaming it.
