Christie, which develops display technologies in Kitchener, Ont., teamed up again this year with the flagship Barney’s luxury goods store in New York, N.Y., to create ‘magical’ windows and an in-store gallery for the Christmas shopping season.

Inspired by hip hop star Jay Z, visual artist Joanie Lemercier and Barney’s creative director Dennis Freedman, ‘A New York Holiday’ used projectors, MicroTile digital signage ‘cubes’ and high-definition (HD) flat-panel monitors to immerse customers in an interactive experience.

“Our holiday windows have become known for cutting-edge technology that leads people into our store,” says Freedman. “We were confident Christie’s systems and managed services could help us bring Jay Z’s vision to light.”

One window features a ‘floating city’ (pictured below) projected on a wall using three-dimensional (3-D) mapping. Another takes children on a virtual sleigh ride (pictured above), incorporating their images on weather-resistant screens with Santa Claus. And the indoor gallery uses floor projections to guide visitors.
