Toy display walls pop up for shoppers on the go

Mattel Canada and Walmart have installed pop-up ‘virtual toy store’ displays in Vancouver, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Montreal, where transit commuters can purchase gifts for the holiday season.
Each display wall features more than 50 three-dimensional (3-D) images of Mattel toys available through Walmart. Commuters can choose one, snap a photo of its corresponding Quick Response (QR) code with their smart phone and pay, all in one transaction.
“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to interact with our customers and help simplify their shopping experience,” says Cheri Anthony, Walmart’s director of merchandising for toys. “By partnering with Mattel, we can push technology in a direction that is beneficial for consumers.”
The displays debuted on November 4 in Vancouver’s Waterfront Station, Toronto’s Union Station and 10 Government of Ontario (GO) Transit commuter train cars; and on November 18 in Montreal’s McGill Station. Each will be up for a four-week period.
