The Sign Association of Canada (SAC) awarded its inaugural outstanding industry contribution award to Peter Brimmer, two-time former SAC president, during the recent 2013 CONSAC trade show and conference in Mississauga, Ont.

Brimmer (pictured) was honoured for serving as an ambassador for the sign industry for more than 20 years since he joined channel letter and plaque manufacturer Gemini in Neustadt, Ont.

“Pete has personally visited nearly every sign shop in the country, not just selling Gemini’s products, but also selling the need for an industry association to represent their interests in Canada,” says Don Ross, national sales manager for Roland DGA and a long-time CONSAC exhibitor. “He continues to be active as chair of SAC’s bylaws committee and a member of its show committee. He contributes to its golf event and chosen charity, Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. Apart from all that, he is one of the nicest people in our industry.”

The newly established award is intended to honour SAC members who have developed best practices, created professional guidelines and/or built a product or service that has improved the way the sign industry does business.

The 13th annual CONSAC show took place on September 20 and 21 at the International Centre in Mississauga. SAC will also host two regional trade shows in 2014, including one in British Columbia in March and another in Quebec in May.
