Here’s your quick morning update on news in the sign industry:
1. Netflix turned to out-of-home (OOH) ads in Toronto to promote the second-season premiere of Daredevil earlier this month, including billboards at Yonge-Dundas Square and a ceiling wrap in the Skywalk between Union Station and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
2. The monthly revenue opportunity for digital signage in all types of venues across North America is just over $300 million U.S., according to a new report compiled by Charlottetown-based software developer ScreenScape Networks.
3. Flora Graphic Digital & Offset Printing, which produces large-format signs, graphics, wraps, exhibits and displays in Brampton, Ont., has installed an Anapurna M2540 FB printer manufactured by Agfa Graphics.
4. Phil Aquin’s career in the sign industry spans almost his entire lifetime, as he began helping his father weed, mask and install vinyl graphics at 13. Today, he runs Adhere Graphics, a small and well-regarded vehicle wrap shop in Elie, a short drive from Winnipeg.
5. Cineplex Digital Solutions has won gold in the 2016 Digital Signage Expo (DSE) Apex Awards in the business and government services category for configuring five ‘media zone’ features for downtown Toronto’s Scotia Plaza.
