More than 500 vintage signs from a collector in British Columbia are set to be included in an online auction this week.
According to a report from the Vancouver Sun, the event will be hosted by the Mad Picker auction house in Aldergrove, a community in Langley Township, B.C. Local collector Chris Backman will be supplying the signs, which range in age from the 1920s to the 1970s and make up less than half of his entire collection.
“The market is absolutely red hot all over Canada and the States,” Wayne Learie, owner of the Mad Picker, said in the report. “Signs for man-caves—there’s none around anymore. Every time they come to auction, the prices are going wild.”
Learie’s 232.2-m2 (2,500-sf) space is currently packed with items up for sale, and the public was encouraged to come for in-person viewings last week. The auction will also feature vintage push-bars; palm presses; soda machines, cartons, and bottles; and assorted pop culture memorabilia.
Interested parties are encouraged to place their bids on the items from Apr. 25 to Apr. 26.
