3-D posters promote Canadian movie

RabbitHoles Media, which produces three-dimensional (3-D) motion posters in Gatineau, Que., recently created 10 theatre lobby posters for the Paramount Vantage film How She Move, which was produced in Toronto and released nationwide on January 25, 2008.

The company's pulse laser printing system embeds 3-D images into a two-dimensional (2-D) film surface, creating posters that appear to move as people walk past them. The posters are viewable without the use of eyewear or projective technology.

The company's chief executive officer (CEO), Todd Allan, has a directing background. Operating from an office in Los Angeles, Calif., he shot the content for the How She Move posters using a motion control system and a Vision Research Phantom ultra high-speed digital camera.

The posters were displayed in theatres in New York City, N.Y., Los Angeles and San Francisco, Calif., within kiosks produced by Paramount. The kiosks provided the necessary light for properly illuminating the posters, which were mounted in suspended frames to highlight the ultra-thin nature of the technology.
